The Second Chapter of St. Paul's letter to the Galatians

The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians

 Chapter 2

1. Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me. 2. I went up in response to a revelation. Then I laid before them (though only in a private meeting with the acknowledged leaders( the gospel that I proclaim among the Gentiles, in order to make sure that I was not running, or had not run, in vain.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 2 verses 1 to 2)

Oh God my Father even though St.Paul had been proclaiming Your Word for fourteen years, he still wished to check if he was in conformity with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church which although it was not yet completely Roman was the Church of Christ that You left by means of the Holy Spirit through the Apostles. It is very important for us Oh God, to have a reliable point of reference in order to settle issues of faith, for one may interpret Your, the Good News so that it may fit to ones' version of the truth, however, this may be misleading to others. Therefore it is very important for us to remain adherent to our reference point unless the Holy Spirit of God shows us another reference point apart from the Church and the Bible Amen.

3. But even Titus who was with me, was not compelled to be circumcised, though he was a Greek

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 2 verse 3)

Oh God my Father You love us so much that You do not force Yourself on us, however, such rites such as baptism are necessary when wanting to become a Christian. Amen.

4. But because of false believers secretly brought in, who slipped in to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might enslave us- 5. we did not submit to them even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might always remain with you.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 2 verses 4 to 5)

May we keep on defending the truth of the Gospel up to our last gasp of breath Amen even if we are persecuted by unbelievers.

6. And from those who were supposed to be acknowledged leaders (what they actually were makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality)- those leaders contributed nothing to me.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 2 verse 6)

Oh God, my Father, I pray that you help me behave as the Christian that You would like me to be and not be false in my ways Amen even as a Father to my Family, if I do not behave according to Your will and do harm to them I will also be a false leader.

7. On the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel for the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel for the circumcised 8. (for he who worked through Peter making him an apostle to the circumcised also worked through me in sending me to the Gentiles), 9. and when James and Cephas and John, who were acknowledged pillars, recognized the grace that had been given to me, they gave to Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship, agreeing that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. 10. They asked only one thing, that we remember the poor, which was actually what I was eager to do.

(The Second chapter of St. Paul's letter to the Galatians Chapter 2 verses 7 to 10)

Oh God, my Father, You have given all of us special qualities, in order to work in different areas of life. I thank You for giving me the gift of working with families, and more that of praying on the Bible and enough computer skills in order to share it online. I thank You , God my Father, even for the gifts that You have given to others Amen.

11. But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood self-condemned; 12. for until certain people came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But after they came, he drew back and kept himself separate for fear of the circumcision faction.

(The Second chapter of St. Paul's letter to the Galatians Chapter 2 verses 11 to 12)

Oh God, my Father, it seems that nobody is free from the seeds of hypocrisy, even those such as Peter who had a close relationship with You was not spared from it. I pray that we all become more aware of ourselves so as to be on guard over ourselves so that we will be protected from falling into this trap, for as in the case of St. Paul when we behave in such a way others may be negatively affected and this may also have a negative impact on their faith, which may already be in a very bad state Amen.

13. And the other Jews joined him in this hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. 14. But when I saw that they were not acting consistently with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, "If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?"

(The Second chapter of St. Paul's letter to the Galatians Chapter 2 verses 13 to 14)

Oh Satan You evil and cunning spirit, why do you foment such arguments and cause such divisions and discord. Even though St. Peter may have been in error in relation to his behaviour why did you compel St. Paul to make such accusations to the current leader of the Church that was still in the running in period of its existence. Why do you cause quarrels between husbands and wives, that may even lead to violence, why do convince us to resort to alcohol and substance abuse as a means of alienating from our problems. Satan you are a coward! You use such people and means to cause divisions be you cursed in the name of God my Father. Amen.

15. We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; 16. yet we know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by doing the works of the law, because no one will be justified by the works of the law.

(The Second chapter of St. Paul's letter to the Galatians Chapter 2 verses 15 to 16)

Oh God, my Father may I never make myself a judge over others and declare them to be sinners without forgetting that I am myself flesh and blood and who depends on Your love and mercy every second of my life amen.

17. But if, in our effort to be justified in Christ, we ourselves have been found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin?  Certainly not! 18. But if I build up again the very things that I once tore down, then I demonstrate that I am a transgressor.

(The Second chapter of St. Paul's letter to the Galatians Chapter 2 verses 17 to 18)

Oh God, many times we have been in a relationship, with You and many times we have completely scrapped this same relationship. Indeed this is a relationship between a sinner and a loving God, who is always ready to give us another chance, even though by default we are still sinners, and that it is by your grace that we are still alive Amen.

19. For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; 20. and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21. I do not nullify the grace of God; for if justification comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.

(The Second chapter of St. Paul's letter to the Galatians Chapter 2 verses 19 to 21)

For through the flesh my God and Father, I get only what is of the flesh, but when I dedicate my life to the Spirit I obtain that is of the Spirit. Moreover, the rules of the world threaten the rules of the Spirit, for one form of rules meaning the worldly go against, or are in contrary to those of the Spirit. Therefore those who obey the rules of the flesh will inherit death, but those who live by the Spirit will inherit both death and everlasting life Amen.

Oh God my Father I would like to end the second chapter of St. Paul's letter to the Galatians with the following prayer:-

Oh God my Father that You give us the grace to live according to the promptings of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. Help me to make the right choices at the right moment so that  I can live according to Your will and not according to mine. I pray that my heart and mind be renewed in You Amen.

The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 1

The Letter of St. Paul

 to

 the

 Galatians

Chapter 1

1. Paul an apostle-sent neither by human commission nor from human authorities, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead-2. and all the members of God's family who are with me To the churches of Galatia:

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 1 verses 1 to 2)

Oh God my Father, I would like to start the first letter of St. Paul to the Galatians in the same way, however as in the case of Paul I have no backing from any authority but You my God and Father. I wish that one day I obtain the blessing of the Pope in Your Name so that I have the blessing of the Roman Catholic Church, however, for the time being, I depend solely on Your blessing my God and Father, which is enough for me.

3. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4. who gave himself for our sins to set us free from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5. to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 1 verses 3 to 5)

Oh God, my Father how nice it is to keep in mind that we were redeemed by your blood due to our sins, and not to take life for granted as if You never redeemed us at all. For if we adopt this attitude our lives will become without meaning. The day to day patterns of our life will make life become boring if we do not keep in mind that we have a God who loves us and  redeemed us from our sins. Amen.

6. I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel- 7. not that there is another gospel, but there are some who are confusing you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8. But even if we or an angel from heaven should proclaim to you a gospel contrary to what we proclaimed to you, let that one be accursed!

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 1 verses 6 to 8)

Oh God, my Father how unfaithful we are, as soon as we are offered a better offer or opportunity we take it immediately and go against You and our faith. The World is offering a gospel of commodity, individualism, something that looks like fairness and democracy which are all opium to the reality of heaven and to the fact, that we have to die and leave all our property and that we can never purchase our life on earth and extend it by means of money. The gospel of the world, is live to your best, now! and invest in a hefty pension plan for the future! However, nobody has a hundred percent assurance that one will reach the age of retirement and live in comfort and style and make good of one's pension plan. There are many who died on retiring from work, therefore it is best to invest in the Gospel of God and not in that of the world Amen.

9. As we have said before, so now I repeat, if anyone proclaims to you a gospel contrary to what you received, let that one be accursed!

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 1 verse 9)

Oh God, my father I pray that when praying on the Bible I always remain faithful to the text, for woe to me if I mislead one soul and that soul is harmed to destruction as a result of such prayers and reflections. I pray that You always make me aware of this big responsibility that You have entrusted to me Amen.

10. Am I now seeking human approval or God's approval? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still pleasing people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 1 verse 10)

Oh God my Father this is a very important question that we may all answer in our hearts and in Your presence. Are we people pleasers, and is our personal life, the total opposite of the image that we project in public or online as in my case? Do our actions fit with our belief in You, my, God and Father or are we living the life of hypocrites! I pray that we all stop and reflect on this important issue while we still have the time to pray to You to help us amend our ways Amen.

11. For I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel that was proclaimed by me is not of human origin; 12. for I did not receive it from a human source, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 1 verses 11 to 12)

Oh God, my Father there  is nothing impossible for You. Without even being educated or a graduate or a scholar You can turn a non-educated person  into a preacher or give that same person outstanding knowledge that is sound enough to leave those who consider themselves as being wise and intelligent without words Amen.

13. You have heard, no doubt, of my earlier life in Judaism. I was violently persecuting the church of God and was trying to destroy it. 14. I advanced in Judaism beyond many among my people of the same age, for I was far more zealous for the traditions of my ancestors. 15. But when God, who had set me apart before I was born and called me through his grace, was pleased 16. to reveal his Son to me, so that I might proclaim him among the Gentiles, I did not confer with any human being, 17. nor did I go to Jerusalem to those who were already apostles before me, but I went away at once into Arabia, and afterwards I returned to Damascus.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 1 verses 13 to 17)

Oh God my Father everybody has a particular story to share regarding one's conversion. That special day or moment, or situation when we came face to face with the reality that You really and truly exist in our life. When You chose to reveal Yourself to us. These are glorious moments to be remembered and even celebrated my God and Father. Throughout the course of my existence without my being aware You had been preparing me for this moment that led to my being able to share my prayers online and help others experience You Amen.

18. Then after three years I did go up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and stayed with him fifteen days; 19. but I did not see any other apostle except James the Lord's brother.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 1 verses 18 to 19)

Oh God, Your timing is not according to our timing. We make plans to do this and that, but this is not always the right time to make such a move. Therefore somehow or other You make us aware either directly, through prayer or by other means that the time is either perfect or we still need to wait for the chosen time according to Your Will Amen.

20. In what I am writing to you, before God, I do not lie! 21. Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia, 22. and I was still unknown by sight to the churches of Judea that are in Christ; 23. they only heard it said, "The one who formerly was persecuting us is now proclaiming the faith he once tried to destroy." 24. And they glorified God because of me.

(The Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 1 verses 20 to 24)

Oh God my Father I would like to end this chapter with the following prayer;-

Oh God, my Father I thank You from my heart for giving me this great opportunity of being able to share the Good News online by means of this blog, facebook, twitter and in the future even on Youtube if it is Your will. I pray that Your Good News reaches the end of the earth so that nobody will be denied the opportunity of making an intimate experience of You Amen. I pray of all who receive this blog that you share the following link:-
